Bristol City have rejected Wolves latest transfer offer for Alex Scott, according to reports from a reputable source.

The Daily Mail reported this morning that an offer of £22m had been turned down by the Robins board. John Percy from the Telegraph reported yesterday that a bid of £20m plus add-ons has been rejected. It is said that the Midlands club ‘remain hopeful of agreeing a deal’ and are ‘not miles away’. Bristol City are holding out for £25m, and it is reported that ‘other Premier League clubs could come in’ which could spark a bidding war.

Wolves are said to have made an offer of £18m earlier this month, but that was swiftly rejected. Julen Lopetegui is said to be ‘completely behind’ the pursuit, and that Scott could be a big player in the Premier League. He was a target before Lopetegui’s appointment, and he remains a serious target, with a third offer shortly expected.

Given that Wolves are not ‘miles away’ from the valuation, their third offer could be the one that is accepted, given that they don’t have much space to manoeuvre when it comes to transfer fees. Wolves have already sold Ruben Neves and Connor Coady, as well as allowing Joao Moutinho to leave, and with Financial Fair Play to consider, they may need to be creative in their offer.

According to the DailyMail, Bournemouth had a £15m bid rejected, and are going to make an improved offer for him. The Cherries now know that they will need to significantly improve their bid after Wolves’ two failed transfer attempts. West Ham are also said to hold an interest and after Declan Rice’s move to Arsenal finally went through, they now have money at their disposal to spend on Scott.

Italian giants Inter Milan, who finished runners up in the 2022/23 Champions League, are alsofans of Scott. Inter were hopeful of getting Scott on a cut price and considered an £18m offer, but there will be no bargain deals for any club who prizes away Scott from Ashton Gate.

The 19-year-old is approaching 100 appearances for the Robins, and has seven assists and six goals in 91 games. As no bid has been accepted, Scott is expected to play a part in Bristol City’s friendly match against Swindon Town at the High Performance Centre tomorrow at 12.30 pm.
