Champions League runners-up Inter Milan are interested in Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott, according to reports in Italy.

Italian football website Tuttomercatoweb claims that Inter are ‘serious’ about bringing him to Serie A. It adds that Scott is valued at €25m but that they believe it could be negotiated to €18m. As of yet, no club has made an offer or a substantial approach to Bristol City, according to an interview CEO Phil Alexander gave BristolLive. Club owner Steve Lansdown was quoted at a starting price of £25m back at the end of April, but that a bidding war between interested clubs could drive up his fee.

A back down in price would come as a disappointment given the 19-year-old is considered City’s most prized asset, given he still has two-years left on his current deal, with the club wanting to extend his stay at Ashton Gate. He has significant potential, and Nigel Pearson believes he will represent the senior England national team later on in his career, which is backed up by club legend Scott Murray. A move to Inter however could provide him an opportunity of playing in the Champions League, and a move abroad would represent a different challenge for the player dubbed the ‘Guernsey Grealish’.

Wolves and Spurs are said to hold the strongest interest, but most recently AFC Bournemouth have shown an interest, whilst West Ham still remain keen, despite previously being put off the price. The Evening Standard reported earlier this week that the Europa Conference League winners had held talks with Scott’s representatives, as they mull over making a deal for Scott, with a massive transfer windfall set to come their way because of the transfer battle for Declan Rice.

Scott is currently on a break before he returns back to the High Performance Centre for pre-season. He was involved in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup with England from May to early June, and will have his own individual programme to work on, to avoid any injuries or burnout, having been afforded less of a break than some of his teammates because of his international commitments.

Bristol City players are due back in for pre-season next week, where they will undergo testing, such as the bleep test, and other exercises. Their schedule is to begin on Wednesday, July 12, with a behind-closed-doors friendly against managerless Reading at the High Performance Centre.

Their 2023/24 Championship campaign begins at home against Preston on Saturday, August 5, before a Carabao Cup match against Oxford United, who they also have as pre-season opposition on Saturday, July 22.
