In the caption, Maya wrote: "Sauna wrapped in a bin bag for a last-minute detox, why not?"

The detox trend or “sauna suit” has reportedly been made popular by celebrities, who believe that the bin bag hack can aid with weight loss. The hack is said to help the body regulate water temperature, enabling a cooling process that is vital in warmer conditions.

This bizarre hack, according to LiveStrong.com, will "short circuit parts of your body’s cooling process.” As the bag prevents the sweat from evaporating, it signals to the body to keep producing sweat in the hopes of lowering body temperature and helping to reduce water retention.

However, boxingscience.co.uk has debunked the hack claiming that it does not burn more fat, doesn’t increase your metabolism and does not act like a detox method for weight loss.

Maya Jama has become a household name since starting her career on YouTube and now has TV credits on Channel 4’s The Circle, BBC’s Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star, ITV’s Walk the Line and most recently ITV2’s Love Island.

Insiders told The Sun that Maya’s popularity during her Love Island debut has left ITV wanting more. A source said: “Maya has more than proved her worth as the presenter of Love Island and while the ratings for this winter series weren’t the best – she came out on top.”

The Insider continued: “With Maya at the helm for the summer series, ITV think she will only increase its popularity, which they think will carry onto the next winter edition.”

The next series of Love Island is set to return within a matter of weeks, with the launch show confirmed for 5 June.
