Maya Jama appeared in good spirits as she stepped out for a fun night in London with her friends. The Love Island host, 28, from Bristol, cut a stylish figure in a glamorous white co-ord and baseball jacket on Sunday night.
She teamed the look with knee-high white boots and sunglasses after paying a visit to celebrity hairdresser Jay Birmingham, who gave her glossy dark hair a chop. Maya opted to keep her make-up relatively subtle with the exception of dramatic black winged eyeliner and lipgloss.
The TV personality told her almost 3 million Instagram followers that she had “missed going out” as she sat in the passenger seat of Jay’s car. She joked: “Brave choice of all white skirt on the first day of my cycle but we love a little risk.”
Several of Maya’s friends tagged her in posts capturing their drunken antics as the night progressed with cocktails and dancing, before enjoying grime artists Skepta and Jammer’s sold out show at KOKO London. DJ Kitty Amor also took control of the bank holiday event to get revellers dancing.
Maya’s attendance at the Camden music venue came after she revealed her merchandise would be going back on sale for a limited time. She took to her Instagram Stories explaining that she was going to share the “really good news” on Saturday but she had been trying to spend time away from her phone.
The Love Island host’s ‘Cling Cling’ hoodies and t-shirts are priced starting from £25. She has taken the opportunity to showcase them in snaps herself, given her extensive modelling experience with appearances on the cover of Sunday Times Style magazine and most recently being unveiled as the new face of Rimmel London.
Maya, who has been nominated for Celebrity Personality of the Year and Best TV Presenter 2023 at the NRTA awards, has been posting regularly on social media since she blasted rumours that she was dating Leonardo DiCaprio. ‘Insider’ claims that she was romantically involved with the Titanic actor surfaced after they were spotted attending a few of the same events.
Maya was unimpressed as the rumours continued to spread and took to Twitter after links between her ‘Leo’ necklace and Leonardo were made. Maya said: “I’ve been minding my business on holiday & said I wouldn’t respond/pay attention to any of the silly stories anymore, but you need to stop now, that is literally my star sign. We are not dating. Move on please.”
ITVX have been preparing for Maya to return to screens on their dating show Love Island on Monday 5 June with posts showing the beauty on their official Instagram account. She has proven popular with viewers after taking over as host from Laura Whitmore.
Paul Mortimer, director of reality programming and acquisitions at ITV2, said: "Finding a new host to follow the wonderful Laura Whitmore was never going to be easy.
"In Maya Jama though, we have another high-profile fan of the show who'll be a great addition to the Love Island family. Cool, charming and charismatic, I speak for us all when I say Maya will also bring a unique presenting style to the show, as did Laura and, of course, the very much missed Caroline Flack. We're very pleased to have her on board."
