It’s not just people finding it hard during this cost-of-living crisis - Bristol Animal Rescue Centre says it has seen an increase in animals arriving, including some with severe medical conditions.
The centre based in St Philips says it is there to ensure no animal gets left behind, but it needs help. The average stay for a dog has recently risen from 85 days to 93 days, and bosses are keen to find many a loving home as quickly as possible.
And what a good time to adopt. With the days getting warmer, these dogs offer the opportunity for a companion for life to explore the region’s paths and parks - and then a pet to feel close to when the days get shorter.

2. Mimi
Mimi is a very sweet, loving girl and is really friendly with everyone she meets. She loves a cuddle and a fuss, and she can be very playful – especially with squeaky toys. | BARB

3. Rusty
Rusty is a friendly, older staffy who is still full of life and energy. He loves playing with toys, training, and going on walks. This dog is sociable with people, and is really friendly with everybody that he meets. | BARB

4. Sadie
Sadie is a beautiful German Shepherd with a warm, friendly disposition. Sadly Sadie did not have the best start in life and as a consequence will require a female only home. | BARB
