Maya Jama has revealed the secrets of her beauty routine, after being announced as the new global brand ambassador for Rimmel London.

The Love Island host, 28, from Bristol, explained how online beauty tips such as splashing freezing cold water on her face and using a small selection of cosmetics have become part of her daily routine.

Speaking to British Vogue, she said: “I saw it on social media – this girl put her face in a big bucket of ice. I don’t do it with ice, I just run the tap for ages and then splash.

“It wakes me up, and closes my pores after a warm wash.”

Maya was highly praised for her flawless complexion whilst hosting Love Island earlier this year. The TV presenter said her glowing skin isn’t down to “loads of products,” but instead it’s more about having regular facials and using masks.

Maya said: “I do get facials – I see Shane Cooper once a month and he uses HydraFacial, LED light therapy and this collagen-boosting warm device [radiofrequency].”

The TV personality added that she uses her own face mask brand, ‘Mij Masks,’ twice or three times a week.

“I use my eye masks every morning on my way to work. It just gives you a bit of extra hydration, and I think make-up sits better when you’ve had them on,” she said.

She noted that the High Street basic moisturiser brand, CeraVe does “wonders” for her skin. For a night serum, she opts for the slightly pricier High Street favourite, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, before bed.

When asked about her glossy hair, she revealed that she follows her mum’s hair care tips every few months, which involves rubbing warm olive oil into it and sleeking it back into a bun overnight, then washing it out in the morning.

Another tip involves making a natural hair mask, from olive oil, raw eggs, banana, avocado and honey, which is then warmed up and applied. She admitted that by doing this it gives her hair “extra shine and [her] curls are better defined.”

As the newest Rimmel London ambassador, she confessed that the most used item in her make-up bag is eyeliner. She said it’s the one thing that gives her a bit of a “glamorous” look, when she doesn’t have a make-up artist at hand to give her a glam look.

Speaking about working with Rimmel, she said: “I’ve been a fan of the brand for the longest time and now being a part of it is mental – I’m super happy and over the moon.”
