Series 10 of the ITV dating show has been on our screens for just over a week now.

Maya Jama was among the celebrities who watched Harry Styles perform at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday night. The Love Island host, 28, took to TikTok to share a video of herself and friends watching the As It Was singer take to the stage.

Maya looked in good spirits as she sang along while holding a drink in her hand. She kept her glossy brunette hair sleek and opted for a sleeveless white top to complete her summery look. A stream of her over 620,000 followers admitted they were surprised Maya attended the show and gushed about YouTuber Sharky standing alongside her.

One wrote: “this is so unexpected... but I love it.” Another said: “Omg I was there!” A third chimed in hoping Maya and Sharky would get together, writing: “I ship them."

Maya’s fun night out came after she took to Instagram to defend the latest series of Love Island amid reports of low viewing figures.

The former Radio One host shared an article about the show’s viewing figures on her Instagram stories.  She captioned the post: “The papers were so quick to repost viewers’ figures being low but the honeys were watching online on @itvxofficial. This season is ELITE thank you very much.”

In recent years, Love Island has been plagued by rumours of dwindling audiences and after the launch episode  last week, it was reported that an average of 1.3million people tuned in to watch the ITV2 show. Then a further 400,000 streamed the dating show through the ITVX service on devices.

These figures are just over half of last year’s summer launch figures, as the first show in 2022 gathered an average viewership of 2.4 million. It was later revealed that Love Island’s viewing figures reached a total of 3 million fans across all devices.

After the first episode of series 10 aired, many fans took to social media to share their thoughts. With one fan writing: “Hype is gone. That’s what happens when you make a frequent copy every single season… It’s boring now - there’s so much they could do, but they don’t.”Whilst another added: “Love Island is too boring man 95% of it is just meaningless conversation.”

Love Island continues every weekday on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm.
