Sixteen restaurants in Bristol included in the Michelin Guide 2023
The Michelin Guide 2023 has now been published - and we’re fortunate in Bristol to have more than a dozen restaurants included, including two with a Michelin star.
Last night, a ceremony was held to launch the Michelin 2023 guide for Great Britain and Ireland - and at it the restaurants to receive Michelin stars, as well as the Green Stars for sustainability and other special awards, were announced.
‘Start with either a fine Spanish wine or a chilled sherry straight from the cask while sitting on the terrace of this buzzy tapas bar. Appealing menus provide plenty of choice and include all the favourites, from jamon croquetas or tortillas – where the rich, golden egg just oozes out – to fire-cooked bread which will have you in raptures. Dishes are skilfully prepared and packed with flavour, and the passion with which they are made is palpable. Those unfamiliar with the Spanish way need not fret, as the knowledgeable team will guide you through the menu from start to finish.’ | Paco Tapas Facebook page
14. Root, Wapping Wharf - Bib Gourmand
‘This busy, welcoming little restaurant occupies five first floor shipping containers on the old wharf. Produce from small local suppliers is used in simple yet flavour-packed small plates formed around vegetables. They have a modern, sometimes intriguing style and inventive touches.' | Alex Ross
15. Tare, Wapping Wharf
‘Tare sits within a block of converted shipping containers on the Wapping Wharf harbourside development – and is named after the term for a container’s empty weight. It’s run by experienced chef-owner Matt Hampshire and his charming team and has just 8 tables inside and a handful outside. Prime West Country ingredients are showcased in attractively presented, creative global dishes which feature on a 7 course set menu.' | Bristol World
16. Wilsons, Redland - Green star
‘Wilsons is one of those appealing neighbourhood places that works in pure harmony, with everyone from the chefs to the service team sharing the same ethos. Sustainability leads the way, with generously proportioned, highly seasonal cooking showcasing ingredients from their smallholding.’ | Emli Bendixen
