Luke McCormick and Trevor Clarke have been handed starts for Bristol Rovers in their match against Ipswich Town.

Clarke was instructed to find a new club in early August but has since worked his way back into the team and has now been given his second start of the campaign, a first since the loss to Forest Green Rovers.

McCormick starts his first match since returning to the Gas for an undisclosed fee from AFC Wimbledon after substitute appearances in a bid to build up his match fitness.

He came off the bench against Plymouth Argyle and against Morecambe, but is now given an opportunity to impress the manager and make an impact.

McCormick and Clarke are two of three changes with Coutts and Marquis dropping to the bench and Ryan Loft isn’t included completely with Harry Anderson also starting.

There is a return to the match day squad for Zain Westbrooke, who like Clarke was told he could move on to pastures new, but failed to find a new club.

Westbrooke is on the bench along with captain Paul Coutts and summer signing John Marquis, who drops to the substitutes for the first time since his move.

He is on the bench given the absence of Jordan Rossiter who is serving the second of his three match ban for an incident against Shrewsbury Town.

Birthday boy Sylvester Jasper has to settle for a place as a ‘finisher’ for the second game in a row following his Deadline Day move from Fulham.

As for those not in the squad, Ryan Loft, who is building up a good run of form with three goals in his last three matches is not included in the match day squad with his absence unclear.

It remains too soon for Josh Grant to return as the club carefully manage his load following a spate of injuries with the utility man making progress.

On-loan Everton centre-back Lewis Gibson is not included after the severity of an injury was found to be slightly worse than initially thought.

Sidelined defenders James Connolly and James Gibbons are also not included given their long-spell out with injury. Josh Coburn continues to recover from a knee injury he sustained whilst playing for Middlesbrough.

Bristol Rovers (4-5-1): James Belshaw; Luca Hoole, Alfie Kilgour, Bobby Thomas, Lewis Gordon; Harry Anderson, Sam Finley, Antony Evans, Luke McCormick, Trevor Clarke; Aaron Collins.

Ipswich Town (3-4-2-1): Walton, Donacien, Woolfenden, Burgess, Burns, Evans, Morsy, Davis, Chaplin, Harness, Ladapo.
