Alex Rodman and Zain Westbrooke are Bristol Rovers’ surprise inclusions in their submitted squad list.

Clubs across the three divisions have to submit their squad lists and stay within the parameters with there a 22-man limit for League One clubs.

The Gas have 19 senior players on their books which leaves for three spaces should they want to sign any free agents from now until January.

Rovers have held informal discussions with some potential free agents but no moves have materialised as of yet.

There are 30 players in total listed on their squad list, though the players under the age of 21-years-old do not count.

Joey Barton has had a preference on recruiting young players, either through loan signings or permanent additions and that allows movement when it comes to meeting the rules.

The two surprise names on Rovers’ 19-man squad list however are Rodman and Westbrooke, who were told they could leave in August.

Barton instructed five players including Rodman - the longest-serving player outside of Alfie Kilgour at the club, to potentially seek new opportunities.

Neither have found a new home though there is no transfer window for National League clubs so there remains a route for them to leave.

Should Barton wish to recall them to the side however he will be able to do so with the players registered and on the list.
