Bristol City travel to the John Smith’s Stadium tonight as they hope to put behind them their Severnside Derby defeat to Cardiff City on the weekend.

The Robins’ nine-game unbeaten run in the Championship was brought to an end, courtesy of goals from Sory Kaba and Jaden Philogene. City had a double-game week last week after playing Manchester City in the FA Cup, and it’s the same again for this one, with a trip to Huddersfield and then a home match with Blackpool at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

Tonight’s match with Huddersfield is City’s game in hand, and it is an opportunity to get into the top half of the table. The Robins with a win can overtake Hull City and Preston North End, and move within eight points of the playoffs.

Huddersfield are rock bottom of the league and suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Coventry City at home last Saturday. Neil Warnock’s side are seven points adrift of 21st-placed Cardiff, and a win tonight would at least overtake both Blackpool and Wigan Athletic. Bristol City and Huddersfield both have their injury problems tonight and so, here’s the latest injury news for both clubs.

Bristol City injury news

Joe Williams and Tomas Kalas both hobbled off in the defeat to Cardiff, and now there is a wait to see the extent of their injuries are. Nigel Pearson revealed that Williams would undergo a scan on Saturday night, but the same wasn’t required for Kalas. Kalas complained of a knee problem, whilst Williams was a hamstring injury, both players have had a history of their respective injuries during their time at the club.

Kal Naismith and Tommy Conway are still a few weeks away from returning with Naismith tipped to return either just before the international break or just after it. Conway is back in training but is still a ‘few weeks’ away from being in contention. Ayman Benarous and Rob Atkinson are both long-term absentees and will not play a further part this season.
