Bristol City are now preparing for a clash with Swindon Town as they continue their preparations for the new campaign.

The Robins are now stepping things up as they look to get up to speed ahead of next month’s season opener. Nigel Pearson will also be working on new arrivals as City get to grips with the likely departure of key star Scott this summer. The Robins are going to need more strength if they are to make the jump towards the playoff conversation.

As Pearson and the club’s chiefs work on all that, we have rounded up all the latest surrounding City and the club’s Championship rivals.

Scott latest

City may be standing their ground over star man Scott, but their stance isn’t making it any more likely that the youngster will stick around.

According to Football League World, Bournemouth are already plotting their next move for Scott after seeing their iniial bid, which was said to be around £15million plus add-ons rejected. Meanwhile, The Telegraph report that Wolves will return with yet another bid after seeing their last offer, which is said to have been worth £20million, rejected.

City are said to want £25million for Scott, but both Bournemouth and Wolves are likely to use add-ons to reach that total, if indeed they do.

Leeds close in

Leeds are set to make a big signing as they look to build a promotion-challenging squad for their first season back in the Championship.

The Athletic’s Phil Hay has tweeted: “Leeds United and Chelsea reach agreement over a deal for Ethan Ampadu. Initial fee of around £7m with add-ons attached. Clears the way for a medical and for Ampadu to become the club’s first signing of the summer.”

Ampadu has spent recent years out on loan, but he now looks set to leave Chelsea for good.

Rovers ‘in talks’

Elsewhere, Blackburn Rovers are said to be in talks over a £4million deal.

According to Daily Mail, Rovers have been aggressive in their search to replace Ben Brereton-Diaz, who left to join Villarreal on a free transfer this summer. It’s claimed their search has led them to Besiktas star Jackson Muleka.

The report claims talks are ongoing over a £4million deal, with Muleka having scored five goals in 29 league games for the Turkish club.
