Nigel Pearson has reiterated that Bristol City will not accept anything less than £25m for Alex Scott, as they stick to their public valuation for the teenager.

Before the end of the season, the Robins were quoted at £25m, which was backed by owner Steve Lansdown in April, and they have not budged on their valuation. It has been confirmed by Pearson that several bids had been lodged for the 19-year-old, with Wolves and Bournemouth reported to have had offers turned down.

Other journalists involved with the national press have claimed that Premier League teams are said to be put off by the £25m asking price, though that stance was defended by Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony, who backed City in their valuation. Nigel Pearson has also defended the club’s stance, and stated the asking price is so high because they do not want to part with the player.

"I don’t know how many bids there have been,” admitted the 59-year-old. who was appearing on BBC Radio Bristol’s first Sound of the City of the new season.

“As far as I am concerned, we’ve made our stance quite clear as a football club an that is for somebody to gain the opportunity to talk to him, we’re talking about £25m. There have been reports of bids for £21m and stuff like that in various news outlets.”

According to various reports, Wolves are said to have had numerous bids rejected and it was reported by GIVEMESPORT that the Molineux club are preparing a third and final offer this week. AFC Bournemouth were also said to have had a bid turned down for him and want to make another, but as of yet no second bid from the Cherries has been reported.

Despite the increased transfer speculation, Scott has kept his head down and continued on as a normal. He has been one of the standout players in an unbeaten pre-season campaign for City, and delivered a tremendous display against Newport County in which he scored a brace.

Pearson added: “I’ve even read with interest, some journalist msaying maybe we’re setting our price too high for him. What they fail to understand is we don’t want to sell him, that’s the way we’re pricing him the way that we are.

"Actually, since seeing him at the start of pre-season we should be asking £30m for him never mind £25m. The bottom line is we as a club have said he’s going to cost £25m as a starting point, and if something happens where he goes for less for that then I won’t be very happy I can tell you that now."
