Police appeal over ‘suspicious’ outbuilding fire in Oldland Common

Police have launched an investigation into a fire which broke out at an empty outbuilding in Oldland Common on Monday night. Huge flames came from blaze which centred on the building located near Siston Brook off California Road.

Fire crews spent several hours dealing the incident after they were alerted just before 5.30pm. Police also closed of California Road and Court Road, before reopening them at around 8pm.

Last night (May 16), Avon Fire and Rescue said they were treating the cause of the fire as suspicious. That has triggered an investigation by Avon and Somerset Police. A spokesperson for the force said: “We’re investigating after a fire broke out in an unoccupied outbuilding in the California Road area of Oldland Common.

“The incident happened at just before 5.30pm on Monday (May 15). No-one was injured in the incident.

“If you saw or heard anything suspicious in this area, or have information which would help our investigation, please call us on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223113021.”
