Check out to see if your Bristol pub makes our version of the game board
Bristol is about to get a new version of Monopoly to celebrate the 650th anniversary of the city - and the game-makers are asking people to nominate landmarks they think should feature in the game, to be released in November.
But we had a better idea. What if the Monopoly instead featured only pubs in Bristol? Which ones reflect the luxury and taste of a blue Mayfair card. And which ones offer booze at a bargain to justify a brown Old Kent Road card.
Using our knowledge of pubs in the city, and the dozens of pub reviews we’ve published, we decided to have some fun and create a Monopoly board with only pubs. It must be said that this doesn’t define how good a pub is, or provide a rating of its offering - and some of these might be currently closed, such is the difficult time facing pubs right now.

With its big children’s play area, this large detached pub is a big pull for families. It is run by Zazu’s Pub Co. and serves up pints of beer from £4.90 a pint to pizzas from £12. Get there early for an outdoor seat in the summer.
18. The Post Office Tavern, Westbury-on-Trym - Piccadilly
Perched at the top of Westbury Hill in Westbury-on-Trym, this former mail coach house used to be frequented by coach drivers (and their horses) after dropping off prisoners at the lock-up across the road. Today it’s a cosy spot for drinkers with a great range of traditional ales including old school Courage Best and Bass.
19. Cambridge Arms, Redland - Regent Street
Owned by the Fuller’s brewery, this Edwardian-built pub in the heart of leafy Redland is often packed with moneyed locals quaffing pints of London Pride in the bar or lovely garden.
20. Alma Tavern, Clifton - Oxford Street
This isn’t just a pub, it’s also a theatre plus an Airbnb with five ‘luxury’ top floor houses. Owned by the Zazu’s Pub Co, its kitchen serves up a range of classic pub grub and pizzas. The anchovy and cherry tomato pizza is £13.50
