A Bristol pub that reopened after the pandemic with a new name and new landlords has closed its doors after just 18 months.
The Cossham Inn in Kingswood relaunched in December 2021 with a total refurbishment and new look. Prior to that, the pub was known as The Warwick Arms for more than a century.
It was taken over in 2021 by Dan Finn and Sam Horrell, two friends from Kingswood who run a building firm and scaffolding company respectively.
The pair had always wanted to run their own pub and they set about renaming the former Warwick Arms and gutting it before a £110,000 refurbishment.
Last month, the pub’s website closed down, with a message telling customers to check back after May 4 ‘to see if we are live again’. But this week, the pub’s windows and doors were boarded up with metal sheets.
The Cossham Inn is owned by Admiral Taverns, which has already started to market the pub on its website with an ingoing cost of £13,000 and annual rent of £27,500.
Admiral Taverns describes the pub as ‘a well-supported drinks focused community local’ and a venue that has ‘historically benefitted from live sports on TV, along with other regular entertainment and also both pool and darts teams’. The pub has two outside areas and staff accommodation upstairs.
The news comes as Bristol World also report the closure of the oldest pub in Keynsham. Bristol World has contacted Admiral Taverns for comment.
