If you lived in Bedminster but had to move away this summer, what things should you do before you go? That was the question posted by one Reddit user, and it led to some brilliant, hilarious and intriguing answers.
The post, which can be viewed here, attracted 84 comments, albeit many over the starting time for the Coronation pub quiz on a Monday night.
Here’s 10 we’ve selected from the thread which might even give you some inspiration for days out this summer. Just ignore the Asda idea....
1. Pint at the Little Grosvenor - NotBaldwin
One of Bristol’s last proper pubs, the Little Grosvenor near Asda is full of character and charm.... and cheap pints. You can even get four pints for £6, as our reporter Mark Taylor discovered in a review published in November.
2. Complain about Gaol Ferry Bridge being closed - VeterinarianVast197
The question on everyone’s lips is ‘when will the bridge open’. Closed in August last year for essential repairs, the city council estimates it will take between six and nine months to reopen - but there’s no guarantee on the timeline. For now, people have to either go across Bedminster Bridge or Vauxhall Bridge to get to the city centre from Bedminster - and that’s rubbish for traders at Wapping Wharf.
3. Buy some art at Upfest - BrilliantOne3867
We all remember the amazing art on display at the annual Upfest in Bedminster. Well, there’ s also a gallery in North Street featuring regular exhibitions from some of the world’s best street artists. You can also buy some of the work.
4. Pub quiz at The Coronation - Sloth_of_Steel
Great pubs usually have pub quizzes, which is the case with The Coronation, in Dean Lane, where quiz night is every Monday. Tables book up, so make sure you ring up in advance. And don’t forget your thinking cap - competition is tough.
