The team at Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary is hoping to find foster parents and forever homes for the loving dogs in their care. The centre has been supporting Bristol’s furry creatures for 30 years and has selected nine special canines hoping for a fresh start in life. to showcase with BristolWorld.
These range from puppies to older dogs hoping to bring a little extra joy to your life. Each dog will have its own requirements before being adopted based on its previous experiences. 9. Jaxon, Old Thyme Bulldog - 5 years old
Meet super handsome Jaxon. He has been with us for 2 years now and is still waiting for a comfy sofa to call his own. Jaxon is an affectionate boy and loves nothing more than having a cuddle on the sofa. He loves company and can struggle being left, so this is something that will need to be worked with. He’s a typical bulldog and isn’t keen on long walks! But he likes a run off lead in our secure field and then he’s ready to go back to bed! Jaxon is super smart and he loves a challenge like puzzle feeders and kongs. He thrives on any type of enrichment and mental stimulation. Jaxon is friendly when he meets new people, though he can be reserved sometimes if he’s not sure. But he doesn’t take long to feel comfortable, especially if you have treats! Jaxon is not good with dogs, as for a large part of his life he has been in pain which has stopped him from being able to socialise with dogs. Any socialising he has done has not been a positive experience for him. Jaxon walks really nicely on lead but he can a strong boy if he sees another dog and can be reactive. We have worked with Jaxon on this and he can walk past some dogs at a safe distance, as long as that dog doesn’t react to him. To keep Jaxon feeling comfortable and safe we wouldn’t expect anymore from him. Jaxon is muzzle trained and must wear his muzzle when out and about. He is happy to wear his muzzle. This is to keep Jaxon and other dogs safe.
