The team at Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary is hoping to find foster parents and forever homes for the loving dogs in their care. The centre has been supporting Bristol’s furry creatures for 30 years and has selected nine special canines hoping for a fresh start in life. to showcase with BristolWorld.
These range from puppies to older dogs hoping to bring a little extra joy to your life. Each dog will have its own requirements before being adopted based on its previous experiences. 5. Bea, Romanian crossbread - 1 year old
Beautiful Bea has come into us from a Romanian Rescue, and is looking for an extra special home in a rural setting, away from busy roads. A place where she can live with another dog that is calm, confident, playful, and can hopefully help Bea with her transition into her new home life. Bea would best suited to a calm, quiet, adult only home with minimal visitors, a fairly large garden, and where she can have her own room to settle and relax away from scary noises, as she can find the world a little overwhelming. Bea is an absolute sweetheart though, and is eager to learn. She will thrive in a home that has the time, patience, knowledge and commitment for training, desensitisation, confidence building and socialisation.
6. Bing, Romanian crossbread - 1 year old
Sweet little Bing has come to us from a Romanian Rescue and is looking for his second chance in life. Bing is on the nervous side, but he is friendly, and once he knows you, you’ll find he is a big softy who loves cuddles. He really is one of the most loving, cuddly pups you could ever wish to meet! We are unsure of Bing’s early life experience, therefore transition into a home could be completely new to him. He may need to learn basic tasks, such as house training, normal house noises etc.
We would love to find Bing a nice quiet, calm and patient home, with another dog to help him adjust to his new environment, and to help him learn that he doesn’t need to be frightened. We’ve found here at the sanctuary that if Bing is walking or spending time with other dogs, he is lot more brave when he’s with them. So we think if he lived with an older, confident dog, this would benefit him greatly.
7. Max, Staff/Mastiff - 1 year old
Super handsome Max came to us due to a change in circumstances meaning his owner could sadly no longer keep him. This striking looking boy is a very typical young, bouncy, bully pup. But underneath his commanding looks, he is actually a little nervous and not that self assured, so his confidence needs building.
He has been with a foster carer who found him to be a very loving, smart boy, who enjoys a routine and learning new things. Though he is a little wary of strangers coming to the home, but is happy to meet new people outside the home. Max is friendly with people he has got to know a little and loves a cuddle. He is good around most dogs, so could live with one of the right match.
Max has been seen by our vet and has been given a clean bill of health. For Max we are looking for an experienced home, ideally of the bigger bully breeds. He would love someone with the time to take him to training classes, from which he would benefit greatly. And then be able to continue with both his mental and physical training in the home. This will help boost his confidence and help him grow into a well adjusted lad.
8. Anja, Romanian crossbread- 4 years old
Beautiful Anya, originally from Romania, has very sadly returned to us due to a change in family circumstances. But during her time with the family, they found her to be an absolute delight to have around, settling into a lovely routine very quickly and taking over the sofa! She loves her walks and has lots of energy and really enjoys a good run around. But she will need to be kept on a long line as she does have a strong prey drive, particularly around our feathered friends. Anya can be a sensitive soul, being a little nervous of new people to start with. But once you form a bond with her, she will never be far from your side.
