Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary will celebrate 30 years of rescuing and rehoming dogs, cats and all other animals in and around Bristol, this year.
The rescue centre has partnered with BristolWorld in a bid to rehome a number of the animals currently in its care, including dogs hoping to find their forever homes this Easter. During their stay at the sanctuary, each dog receives quality nutrition and veterinary care from hardworking staff.
Each dog has its own story when arriving at Holly Hedge which means their new owners will have to meet certain criteria to give the pooch the best possible life. For more information on each dog, how the adoption process works and to donate to Holly Hedge, visit www.hollyhedge.org.uk/our-animals/rehome-a-dog/
Here are 17 dogs currently waiting to find their forever home:
1. Yuka, Siberian Husky - 2 years old
Stunning Yuka is looking for a new home because his previous home environment was a little too busy for him. This very handsome boy is really friendly with people and he loves a cuddle as well as his nice long walks. But he can be a bit hit and miss with other dogs, so would need to be the only pet in the home. For Yuka we are looking for an experienced home, ideally of his breed or larger dogs. He would love someone/people with the time and commitment to give him the ongoing training that he will need, because he does like to greet passers by with an enthusiastic high five with both front paws! Yuka would be best suited to a more rural location where it’s nice and quiet. A place where can build a strong bond with his adopter(s). This will help him learn to become a calmer, confident lad.
2. Donald, Chihuahua Cross - 5 years old
Donald is a very handsome little dog looking for a special home to work through some of his behaviour needs. With this in mind Donald will need an experienced adult home that’s quiet and calm with a stable routine and few visitors, as being taken out of his comfort zone has resulted in him nipping in the past. He is reactive to other dogs, giving a growl and a bark at them, so will need to be the only pet in the home. But whoever builds that bond with him will be showered with love and affection, having started to build a bond with staff here who he is trusting. So they have seen that affectionate side to him, loving a fuss made of him and having a cuddle. With experienced owners this little lad could thrive. Any potential adopter will be required to work with the staff to help build a confident bond before going home. Could you be that special friend Donald needs? Please ask the rehoming team for more information today.
3. Bea, Romanian Crossbreed - 1 year old
Beautiful Bea has come into us from a Romanian Rescue, and is looking for an extra special home in a rural setting, away from busy roads. A place where she can live with another dog that is calm, confident, playful, and can hopefully help Bea with her transition into her new home life. Bea would best suited to a calm, quiet, adult only home with minimal visitors, a fairly large garden, and where she can have her own room to settle and relax away from scary noises, as she can find the world a little overwhelming. Bea is an absolute sweetheart though, and is eager to learn. She will thrive in a home that has the time, patience, knowledge and commitment for training, desensitisation, confidence building and socialisation.
4. Daisy, Labradoodle - 10 months old
Meet delightful Daisy. This gorgeous girl is being rehomed as she is proving to be a little too much for her owner and the resident cat. This lively young lady is just full of beans. She has an inquisitive mind that is always looking at what mischief she can get up to next! Daisy is happy to meet and greet just about anyone and anything, with an enthusiastic spring in her step, both inside and outside the home. She is good with other dogs, wanting to play with any that she sees when out walking. She loves her walks, but recall is very much a work in progress. Daisy would probably benefit from living with an older calm dog. For Daisy we are looking for an experienced home of the younger, lively dog. Someone/people who will have the time, energy and enthusiasm to give her the ongoing training and mental stimulation, that she needs. This will help her settle into a good routine and in turn help her become a well balanced girl, that we know she can be in time.
