The pastry chain has now confirmed this is due to the shop, which is near the Morrisons supermarket, receiving a ‘refresh’.

The store is due to reopen later in the month on March 23, once renovations are complete.

A Greggs spokesperson told BristolWorld: “Our Peterson Avenue shop is currently closed for a refresh until Saturday 23rd March.

“In the meantime, customers looking to grab their Greggs favourites can visit the nearest shop in Broadwalk Shopping Centre."

The Greggs in Broadwalk Shopping Centre in Knowle was previously temporarily closed from the end of October last year, before reopening at the start of February this year.

That shop is now set to close permanently in the coming months after BristolWorld received it had been given a notice to vacate its premises due to the impending shopping centre redevelopment.

The centre is due to be knocked down to make way for up to 800 flats and a shopping street in plans that have proved to be controversial.

The temporary closure of the Greggs in Hartcliffe follows the closure of the Boots pharmacy a few doors down, which permanently shut its doors earlier in the year.
