Maya Jama has admitted she hopes she "lives up to expectations" as a Love Island host in the upcoming summer series. The former radio presenter, who took over presenting duties earlier this year for the winter series, confessed to OK! Magazine that the "pressure is on".

Maya said: "It feels so exciting, I was full of nerves for my first series because I was wondering what it would be like. Now, I know I feel really ready and excited, I just can’t wait to get started!”

Despite her enthusiasm she shared her concerns, adding: “Now there’s a bit more of an expectation, I just want to make sure that I live up to that expectation again.”

“The pressure is on for my stylist because the dresses did very well in the last series!"

The Bristolian stunned viewers in the winter version of the show with her sensational looks and fans were left desperate to find out what she’d be donning for the finale.

She didn’t disappoint as she pulled out all the stops in a dramatic dark pink cut-out long gown. When asked about her planned looks for this series, Maya revealed: “We haven’t decided yet, but I’ve said that I want to look beachy, sexy and fun. I’d say ‘Ibiza summer’ is the vibe I’m going for."

When questioned about what she loves about being the latest Love Island host, Maya said: "I love being able to have a bit more of a personal relationship with the Islanders and being able to see all the behind-the-scenes of what goes into making the show.”

The star took over the role after Laura Whitmore announced she was leaving the hit dating show after two years. Laura shared the news via Instagram posting: “There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.” She happily passed the baton to Maya who was keen to make a good impression right from the start.

When discussing her progression and what she has learnt from series one, Maya said: “I’ve learnt to try and get as much sleep as you can on the plane, although it will be very different this time because South Africa was a lot further than Spain!”

The Love Island host looked radiant on Good Morning Britain on Monday dressed in an orange ruffled two piece before revealing that this year there will be a secret twist in a show first. She went on to explain that there is: "A very big surprise, the public has all the power. So for the first episode, you guys are going to decide who couples up, you vote and we listen."
