Carol Vorderman and Janice Dickinson reportedly came to blows over the monarchy during the filming of the I’m A Celebrity spin-off in South Africa.

The TV star, 62, who lives in Bristol, will be seen in an “explosive clash” with Janice, 68, after the US model voiced her opposition towards the crown.

A source revealed that fellow campmate, ex-royal butler Paul Burrell and actress Helen Flanagan had to defend Carol’s views on the subject.

An insider told The Mirror: “It was a really explosive bust-up… Janice was effing and blinding.”

It is believed that the row began when Janice revealed her beliefs that the Monarchy needs to go, which prompted Carol, who is a supporter of the monarchy, to speak out.

The insider said: “Janice can be quite abrasive and things got very heated.”

“She said Carol’s views were old-fashioned and dated while Carol hit back that Janice was crass and obnoxious. She and Carol are both strong women with strong opinions. It was a personality clash that was bound to explode.”

Carol spoke about her jungle experience last week during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine, where she said that she’s made firm friendships with the rest of the cast.

However, when she was asked specifically about Janice, she replied: “We’ll not talk about her so much.”

The former Countdown star seemed more than happy to open up about several of her co-stars, including Helen, who she said she had “fallen in love with.” She also endearingly described the former Coronation Street star as her “little meerkat.”

Carol went on to speak highly of boxer Amir Khan, who she called “one of the funniest men on Earth.” The TV star also mentioned her close bond with Diversity dancer Jordan Banjo, after being his ‘jungle mum’ during their joint jungle experience, in Australia in 2016.

Janice Dickinson previously took part in the show in 2007 and finished as runner-up, losing out to actor and media personality Joe Swash.

The former America’s Next Top Model judge has also spoken ahead of the ITV1 spin-off’s launch, saying:  “Everything went on. There were ups, there were downs, there was lots of laughter and lots of tears.”

Janice was forced to quit the South African camp early, after she tripped over a cable in the dark on her way to the dunny. A source at The Sun said that “blood was gushing from her head.” Crew on the show are said to have feared that Janice had fractured her skull during the fall, which saw her head to the hospital mid-show.

The first episode will see the campmates split into three separate teams, as they take on the Trees of Torment challenge, the Deadly Drop and Newton’s Cradle.

I’m A Celebrity… South Africa starts on Monday 24 April at 9pm, on ITV1.
