‘Absolutely heartbroken’ family pay tribute to ‘amazing’ 24-year-old killed after being hit by a car

A man killed as he walked to work on the pavement in south Bristol has been named as Zac Betty - as his ‘absolutely heartbroken’ family paid tribute to the 24-year-old.

Mr Betty was Audi A3 on busy road in south Bristol">hit by a grey Audi A3 on Airport Road just before 10pm on Sunday, July 10. He tragically died at the scene.

Five days on from the fatal incident, Mr Betty’s family have paid tribute to him, describing him as ‘an amazing person’.

In a statement they said: “Our loving, caring and selfless son, brother, uncle and daddy – we are absolutely heartbroken.

“You were an amazing person to have around and you’ve made a massive impact. There is a deep hole now in our heart. We all will love you forever and more.”

The family are being supported by a family liasison officer while an investigation continues into the incident.

A 30-year-old man arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving is on conditional police bail pending further enquiries.

A second man also arrested in connection with the incident has now been released without charge.

The force is appealing for witnesses to the incident or the Audi being driven before the crash to call 101.
