The Kensington Arms, or ‘Kenny’ as it is also affectionately known  as, is located on 35-37 Stanley Road, Redland, Bristol BS6 6NP.

The pub came in at 80th on the list of the top 100, and according to the competition website it is a ‘country-style gastropub’ that offers ‘new era dishes’.

“Our dishes are homemade and hand-prepared, and we go to great lengths to source our produce responsibly and locally, all to ensure our food is the best it can be.

Estrella Damm gave their verdict on the pub and why it has been selected as one of the best in the UK.

A spokesperson said: “Head chefs Oscar Davis and Josh Eggleton are always working hard to update and adapt their menu with seasonal dishes, locally sourced from South-West suppliers.

“Menu highlights have included a crispy lamb belly dish, served with pickled peppers, gem lettuce, broad bean and chilli pesto, as well as a monkfish curry, served with pilaf, salsa, yoghurt roasted cauliflower, rarebit, baby leeks, roasted cauliflower puree and a green herb dressing.”

A spokesperson for the awards said: “The “Estrella Damm” Gastropub Awards are voted for by top foodies and hospitality experts.

“These include gastropub operators (who can’t vote for their own pubs), food writers, pubco catering development managers and executive chefs, celebrity and top hospitality industry chefs, pub guide editors, industry chiefs and food operators.

“The voting criteria ensures the list really is decided by the industry.”
