Rob Moore of the Keynsham Courtyard and the Rising Sun in Pensford says he has done so due to him facing up to £75,000 in additional costs and wages this year.

In a statement on Facebook, he wrote: “The price rises we're about to implement will be more significant than anything we've done before, and we don't want to make such a change without giving you a clear reason.”

He continued: “All these factors combined mean that we're looking at around £65,000 to £75,000 in additional costs and wages this year.
“While I'd love to absorb these costs, it wouldn't be sustainable for our business in the long term.

“I've asked our local MP, Dan Norris, to pass on my views, and his PA has assured me that this has been done. If you love your pubs, I encourage you to do the same.
“Regardless of your political views, l'm sure you can understand that these economic decisions leave us with no choice but to raise our prices.
“We hope the increase will be enough to see us through what promises to be a tough year ahead.

“Some may point out that beer duty was cut and we should be lowering prices by a penny, but as you can see, it's the hidden taxes and costs that are driving inflation.
“Please know that this decision comes from necessity, not greed, and we've done everything we can to minimise the impact.
“With that said, we're committed to giving back to our loyal customers. The Keynsham Courtyard Loyalty Reward App will still be available, essentially giving you 5% back off your bill.
“We're also working on launching a Rising Sun Loyalty App later this year to continue rewarding your support. Thank you for your continued support.”
