Weston-super-Mare’s Grand Pier ranked third on the list. It was praised for its cheap 10p slot machines, ghost train, variety of rides and short distance to the swimming beach.

New Brighton’s New Palace and Adventureland was the overall winner and was described as a time capsule where “very little has changed in 65 years.”

In second place was Ventnor Paddling Pool on the Isle of Wight, a 24-hour free splash-pool with a miniature model of the island for kids to play on at its centre.
