Scunthorpe United v Bristol Rovers: TV details, how to watch, team news and form guide

The games are coming quick and fast for Bristol Rovers with Scunthorpe United up next on the agenda

Bristol Rovers are on the road this midweek as they face Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park in the Sky Bet League Two.

This is a rearranged match from December 18 with the game being postponed as a result of a number of positive cases in the Gas ranks and was the first of four postponements.

With Joey Barton’s side playing catch up given the amount of games they have in hand, each game will be of importance as they try and climb up the table and achieve their goals of at least a play-off spot.

Seven places separate the two teams and Rovers are 11 points clear with two games fewer. If Rovers were to win then they could move above Crawley Town who aren’t in action tomorrow.

What’s the latest team news for Bristol Rovers?

Leon Clarke could be set for a role in the side after a recent return from the sidelines that kept him out from early September. He came on in stoppage time and had a few minutes back on the pitch after a difficult period that may have ended his career.

Cian Harries was taken out of the side on Saturday as part of a tactical change to a four-man defence and ended up not making the squad at all after a neck injury was reported on the morning of the game.

Alfie Kilgour was an absentee due to an injury he most recently had. There was a bit of swelling around his knee and he is being carefully managed.

In their places started Luca Hoole and on-loan Cardiff City defender James Connolly, so there may be a desire to remain with a back four whilst trying to be attacking.

This game will also come of importance to one of Rovers’ January signings. It’s two games into his career at the Mem but striker Ryan Loft hasn’t yet found the net, enduring a difficult start.

After starting the month with the Irons, he finds himself 24 days later playing against them after a January move. Loft spent two one-and-a-half seasons up there, bagging 15 goals in 62 appearances.

What’s the latest team news for Scunthorpe United?

Ahead of tomorrow’s game, Scunthorpe have moved for attacking midfielder Tyrese Sinclair, who joins from league rivals Mansfield Town on loan.

In Scunthorpe’s last match, Harry Bunn came off during the first-half, injuring his calf. Manager Keith hill said that it could be a long-term one and that he will have to undergo a scan but the initial thoughts is that it’s a bad one.

Myles Hippolyte is Scunthorpe’s top scorer this season with four goals, the same amount Loft had before he left for the Mem. Hippolyte is also their joint-top assists maker with two assists, tied with Mason O’Malley and Hayden Hackney. Hackney though is serving a six-game ban for spitting.

Head-to-head

These two sides haven’t met this season with this being the first match. The two are set to do battle on the final day of the season in early May.

You have to go back to March 2019 for the last competitive meeting between these two sides which was then in League One.

A goal from Jonson Clarke-Harris was the only strike as Rovers claimed a 1-0 win at Scunthorpe’s ground.

There have been 40 meetings between the Gas and the Irons and it’s been relatively close. Rovers have 16 wns to Scunthorpe’s 10 and there have been 14 draws in between. The first meeting was in August 1958 with Rovers winning 4-0 in the old Division Two.
