Bristol Rovers are looking to secure their place in League One again for next season

Bristol Rovers are currently sat in 18th place in the League One table after 25 games. It has been a tough season so far for the Gas.

They are seven points above the drop zone but some teams below them have a game in-hand. The Pirates turned to former Brighton and Hove Albion man Inigo Calderon as their manager earlier this winter.

Bristol Rovers made the decision to sack Matt Taylor after a poor run of form. They are now hoping that their new man can keep them up and avoid relegation to League Two.

The Gas have the chance to bring in some new faces before the end of the January transfer window. They also have the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door as well before the deadline on Monday 3rd February.

Will Bristol Rovers survive in League One?

Bristol Rovers still have a bit of breathing room between them and the drop zone. They will want to find some more consistency though over the coming weeks and months.

Cambridge United, Burton Albion, Shrewsbury Town and Crawley Town make up the bottom. The quartet are looking to drag the Pirates into trouble along with Northampton Town and Peterborough United.

After luring Calderon to the Memorial Ground, Director Of Football George Friend said: "I am delighted to welcome Iñigo to the Club and have him on board as our new Head Coach. Iñigo is someone I have followed for a long time, both as a player and as a coach, and he already has a thorough understanding of English football and the culture of the game here.

"Iñigo is an excellent coach and what has become obviously clear from our conversations is that he is full of the character, ambition and enthusiasm to not only be the best head coach he can, but to help drive Bristol Rovers to success too. We are all excited for what Iñigo will bring to our squad, our staff, and our supporters."
