It’s a case of winner-takes all given Chelsea and Cheltenham Town have played all three of their games, so Exeter and Rovers will want to progress.

Rovers are in the driving seat as they possess a better goal difference, so Exeter will need to win by two goals to win the group outright. The Gas however lost to Chelsea, so could miss out if they fail to win.

It would match the performance of last season as they progressed to the second round, before being knocked out by Wimbledon in the third stage.

The last time the two sides played was in August with Exeter winning 4-1 at the same venue. All four goal came inside 25 mjinutes with Jay, Dieng and Harry Kite all on the scoresheet. Sam Finley pulled one back as a consolation goal.

Away from the Trophy, Exeter are league rivals with Rovers and are currently 12 places above them in fourth, sitting on 26 points.

Experienced duo Leon Clarke and Brett Pitman are also in the treatment room as they recover from long-term injuries.

It means that Aaron Collins, who has yet to register a goal in Rovers colours could lead the line tomorrow night.

Given the nature of the competition has seen a mass amount of rotation, it could provide the opportunity for the likes of Jarmani Langlais and Luca Hoole to feature.

There could be a change in between the sticks with Jed Ward expected to step in place of first-choice goalkeeper James Belshaw.

What’s the latest team news for Exeter City?

For Exeter, Jack Sparkes could make a start after returning from injury on Saturday in their draw with Bradford, with this match providing the perfect chance for rotation.

Matt Taylor has been nominated for Manager of the Month in League Two and could make a number of changes to keep his squad fresh for the visit of Oldham Athletic.

The Grecians are on form this season and that could be attributed to the form of Matt Jay, who has nine goals in 15 appearances this season. Sam Nombe is behind him on six goals, whilst defender Timothée Dieng is a threat from set pieces, having scored four times.
