In his five games in the third-tier, he has produced 22 yellow cards but is yet to produce a red card. He has averaged 4.4 yellow cards a game this season, according to WhoScored.com.

Woods has taken charge of two Bristol Rovers game over the course of his career and in that time the Pirates have come out on top on one occasion while also falling to a solitary defeat.

Woods’ most recent match in charge of Bristol Rovers came on the 28th September when former boss Matty Taylor’s team fell to a 2-1 home loss against promotion hopefuls Wycombe Wanderers. Scott Sinclair opened the scoring for the host on that occasion before Daniel Harvie and a last minute Joe Low strike turned the tables for the visitors.

Woods will work alongside assistant referees Sean Rothwell and Kevin Morris while the game’s fourth official will be Edward Duckworth

Bristol Rovers currently sit 20th in the table with a disappointing points tally of 25 from their opening 24 matches, leaving them clear of safety having played one more match than 21st place Shrewsbury Town.

The Gas are aiming to avoid relegation to League Two and will need to show great improvement in the second phase of the season under new boss Iñigo Calderón, who has won just one of his opening four matches while falling to defeat on three occasions, with the most recent being a lopsided 3-0 loss in the FA Cup to Premier League side Ipswich Town.

Bristol Rovers’ upcoming opponents

After a slow start to the season, promotion-chasing Barnsley are showing signs that they can once again be a real force at this level with five victories from their last six matches.

The Tykes currently sit fifth in the table with 42 points from 25 matches, four clear of seventh placed Stockport but a distant nine points away from Wycombe in the automatic promotion places.

Barnsley boss Darell Clarke, who led Rovers to back-to-back promotions during a successful stint between 2014 and 2018 will be aiming to make a huge impression against his old club.
