Bristol Rovers are back in action on Good Friday as they look to return to winning ways

Bristol Rovers have slipped into the League One relegation zone with four fixtures left to play. The Gas were beaten 2-1 at home by Exeter City last time out. They are now in the bottom four along with Shrewsbury Town, Cambridge United and Crawley Town.

Inigo Calderon’s side are winless in their last six matches. Next up is a tricky away trip to the Racecourse Ground on Friday to face Wrexham. Phil Parkinson’s men are 2nd in the table and are battling it out with Wycombe Wanderers to join Birmingham City in the Championship.

Wrexham injury news

Starting with the hosts, Wrexham remain without long-term absentees Will Boyle, Luke Bolton and Andy Cannon. The latter suffered a serious knee injury against Mansfield Town in February. Parkinson said at the time: “Our thoughts are with Andy at this time. Rest assured, we’ll get him the best possible treatment and he’ll come back better than ever.”

Striker Jay Rodriguez, who joined the Red Dragons in January, was a doubt heading into their last match against Wigan Athletic after picking up a knock against Burton Albion. However, he was passed fit in the end and started against the Latics as his side drew 0-0.

Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer have seen their game time dry up over recent times due to competition from the likes of Rodriguez, Steven Fletcher, Jack Marriott, Mo Faal and Sam Smith. The pair aren’t injured though and are just being left out due to selection reasons. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to get back into the squad.

Bristol Rovers injury news

Bristol Rovers haven’t seen much of Jamie Lindsay over recent times. The midfielder joined from Rotherham United last year. Calderon has shared this update regarding his situation: "He's another one that I think is improving. This week, I think he has been improving. I haven't made any cross to any player at all. I don't think I can do that. First, because I'm not this kind of coach or person, and second, because we don't have that many players.”

Winger Shaq Forde wasn’t involved against Exeter. He was fit though and could return against Wrexham. His manager has said: "He was fit to play. It was a technical, tactical decision - whatever you want to call it. But he's been training good this week."

The Gas remain without striking pair Promise Omochere and Chris Martin until the end of the campaign. Kamil Conteh has been sidelined since Boxing Day as well which isn’t ideal. Meanwhile, defensive pair Joel Senior and Lino Sousa are also in the treatment room.

Sousa faces a race against time to play again for the Pirates before the summer. His head coach has said: "He's going to be a be tricky one. He's trying, but it is true, as you say, it's just three weeks left. So I can say that he's trying to get fit to try to help us. I cannot give an answer. It is not going to be too long, but I don't know if it's gonna be on time or not."

Wrexham absentees: Will Boyle, Luke Bolton, Andy Cannon.
