Bristol Rovers are reportedly interested in a move for Fleetwood Town midfielder Callum Camps.

Camps was a name that was discussed earlier in the transfer window after his previous links with Barton and he had been following him as well as Sam Finley on social media.

Barton and Camps worked together during their time at Fleetwood with Barton bringing him to Highbury Stadium in August 2020 before the Liverpudlian left in January 2021.

Sun journalist Alan Nixon says that both Rovers and Shrewsbury Town are making a late move for the midfielder.

And whilst a link to Shrewsbury has been made, a further development is that despite the Shrews interest, a move to the Memorial Stadium seems likelier.

Lewis Cox, a journalist for the Shropshire Star says that Camps would prefer a reunion with his former manager.

Asked on Saturday about what position Barton would like to strengthen in, he responded with: “I think we could do with another Sam Finley, Antony Evans-type midfielder, but they’re difficult to find, especially when you’re a League Two manager. “

The 26-year-old has played 18 times for Fleetwood this season scoring two goals as well as four assists and would fit the mould of both Evans and Finley.

Earlier today a move for Jon Nolan was touted after he was released from his contract Ipswich Town. Up to eight clubs were rumoured to be interested in him but there is no appetite for a return to Shrewsbury, added Lewis Cox.

Left-back is also an area that Rovers are looking to strengthen in and there was news that Wigan Athletic had rejected a loan bid for left-back Luke Robinson from Rovers, as well as League Two rivals Leyton Orient.

As well as incomings, there has been no reported movement yet on the potential departures of both Brett Pitman and Junior Brown. Both players are allowed to leave the club after being told that their first-team opportunities would be limited if Rovers could conduct the business they wanted to do.

Should the pair fail to earn a move to a Football League rival then they could at least drop in to the National League with non-league clubs not bound by a transfer window.
