The 29-year-old hasn't been around the first-team picture at Ipswich for over a year and is now free to look for a new team with a frantic rush to secure the players signature.

Clubs ranging from the Championship to League Two are interested in taking Nolan so Rovers face a mammoth task to persuade him to join.

A report from the East Anglian Daily Times say that Rovers are one of six teams interested in acquiring his services.

In the Championship, strugglers Peterborough have been suggested whilst Shrewsbury, Fleetwood and Plymouth Argyle in League One want him.

Rovers’ League Two rivals Leyton Orient and Mansfield Town are also in for Nolan which will make it difficult for Rovers to conclude a deal given the number of interested parties.

As he was released inside the window, clubs can take their time on signing Nolan should they leave a registration spot in their squad when submitting their list to the Football League.

Rovers are confirmed to be in the market for a midfielder in the same mould as Sam Finley and Antony Evans, as well as a left-back.

Nolan hasn't made a first-team appearance for Ipswich since January 2021, whilst he has been an unused substitute in their EFL Trophy games.

He made a total of 70 appearances for Ipswich, including 26 in the Championship and in total scored 10 goals in a three-and-a-half year spell.

Before joining Ipswich he played for the likes of Stockport County, Lincoln City, Wrexham and Grimsby Town in the National League.

Nolan hails from Hyton, the same area of Liverpool that first-team manager Joey Barton was brought up in.
