With less than a week since their heroics, they have started plans for next season by securing the futures of two of their youngsters.

Academy graduates Jamie Egan and Harvey Greenslade have signed their first professional deals with the club.

Both had been on the fringes of the first-team and were out on loan in the non-league as they built up their name in the game.

Greenslade was on the bench as an unused substitute in the Gas’ remarkable 4-3 win over League One outfit Oxford United.

The 18-year-old was with Cinderford Town, Tiverton Town and Tuffley Rovers during the course of the campaign.

At Tuffley, he scored three goals in six matches and was named their Player of the Month, before playing in the Southern League Premier.

He had been training with the senior squad and whilst not named in the matchday 18, he was part of the warm-ups.

Greenslade is also the brother of Lily Greenslade, who plays for the Gas Girls’ side, as well as Bristol City’s development team on a dual-registration.

Harvey said: "I am delighted to be offered a professional contract at the club I have been at since the U7s. I’ve worked hard and had great support from my family. I had a taste of what first-team football is about when I trained with the team recently and I can’t wait to make an impression next season."

Byron Anthony, who is the Head of Academy Coaching, said: "Harvey has been in the Academy from day one, so it is extremely pleasing to see him develop as a person and player over the years. From starting out in the foundation phase to now being offered a professional contract with the football club is fantastic.

"Huge credit goes to him and to everyone who has been a part of his development journey so far. Everyone within the Academy is delighted that Harvey has been offered a professional contract and we look forward to seeing him develop further within the first-team environment next season.”

Greenslade will be joined by Jamie Egan who has spent most of this year in the National League North with Hereford.

Egan joined Rovers from Irish First Division side Cabinteely in 2020 and represented Wales at underage level. A centre-back by trade, he was also involved in the academies of Bohemians and Bray Wanderers.

He was a regular feature in the Bulls’ defence and played a total of 17 times as his loan club finished 12th in the division, earning four clean sheets.

Jamie added: "It’s a dream come true. Now it’s about pushing on and I can’t wait to play in front of the Gasheads at The Mem. Being out on loan has shown me that I have adapted to men’s football and I can’t wait to get started."

Byron Anthony, who has overseen his development, said: “Jamie’s journey has been slightly different; he arrived at the football club later than some of the other players in the Academy but this did not faze him.

“He has shown great character and commitment to developing as a player and worked extremely hard since arriving. He has impressed this season whilst being out on loan at Hereford."
