Bristol City are already preparing for the new season after a pretty underwhelming campaign of last.

The Robins would have liked to push on last season, but they again had to settle for a bottom-half finish, and a much better finish will be expected of Nigel Pearson and his men going into the new campaign. The Robins are already hard at work in the summer heat as they look to get up to speed ahead of the new season, and there should be some new faces added across the course of the summer.

In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news surrounding City and their Championship rivals.

Subs increase

A report from the DailyMail claims that Championship clubs will be allowed to name up to nine substitutes on their bench for the 2023/24 campaign.

A vote involving EFL member clubs saw Championship clubs increase from seven to nine, but League One and League Two teams will remain. No changes to the amount of substitutes you can make will change however, with clubs permitted to make five changes during a match, though a concussion can allow for an extra substitute.

Scott interest ramps up

West Ham are said to have held early talks over a possible move for City star Alex Scott.

According to The Evening Standard, the Hammers are ramping up their interest in the 19-year-old, who is said to have price tag of around £25million this summer. David Moyes is said to want midfield reinforcements, and Scott has been identified as an option, with West Ham needing to add depth as well as replacing Declan Rice, who is outbound.

West Ham will play in the Europa League next season, and they have just come off a campaign of battling the drop.

Southampton take a loss

Southampton have accepted a deal to sell Mislav Orsic ahead of the new season.

Orsic only joined Southampton in the January transfer window, but he went on to play just six league minutes after arriving. The Daily Mail say the Saints have now agreed a deal worth £3.5million to sell the play to Trabzonspor.

That would mean Southampton have accepted losing £1.6million on Orsic in the space of just six months. Though, they will have to take losses after suffering relegation from the Premier League.
