Luton Town today included Bristol City transfer target Harry Cornick in their starting 11 to face Grimsby Town in their FA Cup fourth round tie at Kennilworth Road.

Cornick’s inclusion in Rob Edwards’ squad is a sign that a move to Ashton Gate is not imminent and that he remains a Hatters player for at least one more match. The Robins have money to spend after Antoine Semenyo’s move to Bournemouth was finalised and Cornick was identified as a potential replacement.

The 27-year-old is believed to be out of contract at the end of the season, and he was thought to be a target for the summer, but the departure of Semenyo, has sped up the process as they seek for someone that can play both as a winger or as a striker. Despite receiving riches from Bournemouth, the club aren’t expected to spend millions in the last few days in the window on a replacement.

It was reported by Football Insider on Friday that both City and Swansea had tabled a bid for the forward, but that the Bedfordshire club wanted to keep hold of their squad and have no intention of selling him. WalesOnline reported however that a formal bid has yet to be submitted from Swansea City, with Bristol City’s status yet unknown.

Cornick played an hour before he was brought off for Carlton Morris, with Luton drawing 2-2 with the Mariners. Gavan Hoohan opened the scoring just before half-time but an Elijah Adebayo penalty levelled things and then they went in front through Jordan Clarke but just a minute later Harry Clifton equalised.

Luton are already one attacker short after they mutually agreed to part ways, and he joined Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer. They signed Cody Drameh on loan from Leeds United earlier this week after James Bree was sold to Southampton.
