Bristol City are slight favourites for their EFL Championship clash with Millwall on Saturday afternoon.

Rob Atkinson’s stoppage time header defeated Preston, who hadn’t lost an away match all season until Wednesday evening. City had been on a winless streak before Keith Stroud’s full-time whistle sounded and there is a slight more bit of optimism around Ashton Gate.

The Robins are sitting just inside the top half of the table after their midweek win over Preston. Millwall meanwhile are four places below them though the league is so closely contested that only a point and two goals separate them.

A win for Nigel Pearson’s side could see them move into the Championship top-six but a set of results would have to fall in their favour. Rotherham United in 15th-place could overtake City with a victory with the table closely contested after the quarter-mark stage of the campaign.

In his latest Sky Sports Column, Prutton believes that Gary Rowett’s side will come away from the West Country with all three points in a 2-0 win for the Lions. Millwall have yet to win an away match this season and so Prutton’s prediction is somewhat of a surprise.

If you add to the fact that City are the highest scoring team in the division this season with 22 goals then there is sure to be goals for an attack that hasn’t had many issues in front of goal.  City have also conceded 22 goals which is the second highest in the division and so a clean sheet isn’t guaranteed but they did do that against low scorers Preston.   The goalless draw with Coventry as well as the crushing 3-0 defeat to Birmingham City last Saturday are the only times this season that they have failed to score a goal.
