Bristol City predicted XI gallery for the visit of Millwall and ex-striker Benik Afobe

Former Bristol City striker Benik Afobe is back at Ashton Gate on Saturday as Championship rivals Millwall are the latest opponents.

Benik Afobe makes his return to Ashton Gate as Millwall face Bristol City in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Afobe spent time on loan with the Robins in the 2019/20 season after joining from Stoke City, scoring three goals in his first five matches. Afobe had started brightly but suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in training which ruled him out for a large chunk of the season. He would benefit from the Championship season being extended into June and would end up playing 12 games in total, but failed to find the net upon his return.

His current club Millwall is where he was at last season and he in fact scored on his return to the West Country. He ended up being on the losing side in a 3-2 defeat in the previous meeting between the two sides on the second day of the New Year in 2022.

City are ahead of Millwall in the current league standings by a point with four places separating 11th-placed City and Millwall who are currently 15th. The hosts are the highest scoring team in the division with 22 goals but have also conceded the second-highest amount with only Hull City shipping more.

There are plenty of things to contend with when it comes to team selection, such as whether to stick with a winning team after defeating Preston North End. There is a midweek game to come against West Brom and there may need to be rotation to manage the squad.

How will Nigel Pearson line his side up for the 14th game of the season at the weekend?
