Bristol City have enjoyed a fine start to the new season, but they are set to face their ‘toughest challenge’ yet on Wednesday night.

Nigel Pearson’s men were not particularly rapid out of the gate, but they have since picked up significantly.

The Robins have won four of their last five games, going unbeaten in seven games in league football and eight overall amid a win in the Carabao Cup.

That form has taken Pearson’s men into the playoff positions, currently sitting sixth, albeit the table is a very premature one.

On Wednesday night, City’s unbeaten run will face a stern test, with the Robins making the trip to Norfolk to take on Norwich City at Carrow Road.

The Canaries are currently second in the table, and they can move within a point of leaders Sheffield United with a win.

Norwich have won their last five games, though, they are still only two points ahead of the Robins.

Ahead of the clash, Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has submitted his prediction, and he is going for a 2-0 win for Norwich.

“Norwich have marched right up the table off the back of five wins,” he wrote in his weekly predictions column.

“All of a sudden a third promotion in as many attempts looks very much on the cards. Bristol City are on a great run of form.

“Whether they can maintain it remains to be seen, and this is their toughest challenge yet. Norwich just look too strong right now, though. Home win.”

Pearson’s men will be looking to prove that prediction wrong, and they have already shown the ability to do just that, pulling off an unlikely away win over Blackburn last time out.

It’s these sorts of tests that will define whether City really can make a run for promotion this season.
