Bristol City are back in action this evening away at West Brom. The Robins are currently sat in 17th place in the table after picking up 18 points from their opening 15 games.

Nigel Pearson’s were beaten 2-1 at home by Millwall and will be looking to bounce back against the Baggies tonight. In the meantime, here is a look at some of the latest news from around the Championship...

Middlesbrough close to appointment

Middlesbrough are reportedly close to naming Michael Carrick as their new manager. The Hartlepool Mail has reported that the former Manchester United midfielder are hopeful of securing his signature over the next couple of days.

Boro have made a slow start to the new season and sacked Chris Wilder earlier this month. Leo Percovich has since been in caretaker charge but their hunt for a new boss may well be coming to an end soon.

QPR boss outlines stance

QPR boss Michael Beale has been linked with Rangers and Wolves over recent days. The former Liverpool, Rangers and Aston Villa coach has done an impressive job with the R’s since taking over in the summer.

He has today addressed his situation and has said, as per the Evening Standard: “There has been a bit of noise but I had a really honest face-to-face conversation with [director of football] Les Ferdinand yesterday, The club’s not had contact, I’ve not had direct contact either. At the moment, it’s my first job, I could not be happier with how things are going, with the owners, the staff, the players.”

Free agent finds new club after Preston North End exit

Scott Sinclair, who was released by Preston North End at the end of last season, has been snapped up by Bristol Rovers on a free transfer. The winger left Deepdale in late June and has since been weighing up his options.

He rose up through the youth ranks at the Memorial Ground and has now returned there at the age of 33. Joey Barton’s side are currently 12th in the League One table.
