Former Bristol City defender Joe Low is the subject of growing transfer interest from Championship strugglers Plymouth Argyle as they aim to beat the drop this season.

Football Insider reporter Peter O’Rourke understands that the Pilgrims are huge fans of the Wycombe Wanderers ace and have already made an opening bid to try and prise him away from Adams Park this January.

Low joined Bristol City’s academy when he was just seven-years-old and was handed his first professional contract 12 years later in 2019. The Cardiff-born centre back enjoyed loan spells at Dorchester Town, Frome Town, Yate Town, Eastleigh to gain experience before being handed his Championship debut in November 2022 as late substitute against Middlesbrough.

The 22-year-old spent the final six months of his Bristol City contract out on loan at League Two side Walsall and after an impressive stint in the West Midlands was signed permanently by Wycombe in the summer of 2023.

Joe Low has racked up 68 appearances for the Chairboys since arriving at Adams Park 18 months ago and has been a near ever present this season for Matt Bloomfield’s side.

The youngster is rapidly growing into one of the most sought after defenders in League One and has played a major role in Wycombe’s tremendous start to the season which currently sees them sit in second above the likes of Huddersfield Town, Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers.

Low is renowned for his defensive awareness and his ability to thrive in aerial duels. This has been showcased by his eight goals since signing for the Blues with four of those coming this season.

Wales Online claims a value of £750,000 has been placed on the defender after a period of immense progress in the third-tier.

Reporter Peter O’Rourke understands that Plymouth have already made an opening bid for the Welsh defender but adds that fellow strugglers Preston North End and play-off hopefuls Swansea City have also identified Low as a potential target, via The 72

“We’ve had him for 18 months or so and we brought him in as a free transfer. At that point, it was decided that he wasn’t good enough for the Championship We took him and we believe in him and we’ve nurtured him.
