Championship Watch: Barnsley appoint new manager as Derby County deducted points
The Championship may have been on a two-week break but the headlines continue despite a lack of match action.
Some of City’s league rivals have ended their searches for a new manager, such as Severnside rivals Cardiff City, who appointed former Wales international Steve Morison.

Barnsley appoint new manager
Barnsley today confirmed the appointment of their new manager after parting company with Markus Schopp following defeat to the Robins on October 30.
Sweden Under-21 head coach Poya Asbaghi is the new man at the helm, where he hopes to turn the Tykes form around.

Hide AdBorn in Iran, Asbaghi has mainly managed in Sweden, taking charge of teams in the lower leagues, before spells with Gefle IF and then IFK Göteborg where he won the Swedish Cup.
As mentioned, he was in charge of the Sweden U21s team and left them top of their group after six wins in his matches in charge.
Despite his appointment, he won’t begin straight away and instead caretaker boss Jo Laumann will take the game against Fulham this coming Saturday. Asbaghi and his assistant coach Feran Sibila will begin next Monday.
Further points deduction for Derby
Derby County’s chances of survival have taken another hit after they were met with another points deduction.

Hide AdThe Rams after admitting to breaches of the EFL’s Profitability and Sustainability rules have been docked a further nine points with a further three suspended.
This is in addition to the 12 they received in September for entering administration, which makes for a bleak future in regards to their second tier status.
It places them on minus three points, a whole 14 points behind nearest place Barnsley, whilst they are 18 points adrift of survival with just over a quarter of the season gone.

New contract for Blackpool boss?

Football League World reports that the Tangerines, who were promoted last year and are holding their own in 10th, want to keep the former Liverpool academy boss at Bloomfield Road.
Critchley has 18-months left on his current contract and has been admired by a number of clubs who have been searching for a new manager.
