Bristol City are back amongst their own supporters this weekend as they host Stoke City at Ashton Gate, with more than 20,000 fans expected.

It was quite the match for the Robins last week, with emotions riding high at the King Power Arena. Nigel Pearson along with physio Dave Rennie, and first-team players Andy King and Matty James returned to the club in which they helped prepare them to for a fairytale Premier League title win back in 2016.

Jamie Vardy scored the only goal of the game as he converted a penalty, and ran the other length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the supporters. It was an act which both Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer had backed after City fans tried to put him off his game.

It's been better on the road for City this season, with away wins over Millwall and Swansea City, whilst they drew with Hull City. At home they only managed their first home league win 11 days ago in a convincing 4-1 win against Plymouth Argyle which generated an electric atmosphere.

As with a lot of football supporters, they’re keen to know how their club stacks up firstly against their local rivals, and then against the rest of the division. It’s eight games into the season, and there’s a lot of football to be played but already we can see which clubs have the biggest away support so far.

A lot of factors are at stake, including the distance that some of these clubs have had to travel, as well as the scheduling after the first midweek fixtures of the season this month, as well as the allocations. Swansea was one of City’s closest games of the season, and they took a respectable number despite the early kick-off.
