Bristol City’s last 12 January permanent signings and where they are now
The last 12 permanent signings Bristol City have made in the January transfer window
Bristol City have often resisted from doing too much permanent business in the January transfer window and this month hasn’t been any different. The Robins have welcomed one new signing, with Nikita Haikin joining on a free transfer after he was released by Bodo/Glimt.
However, following the disappointing departure of Antoine Semenyo to Bournemouth for over £10m, it could be an interesting few days on Ashton Gate. Though the Robins certainly don’t want to risk panic-buying, especially given a recent history of poor buys in the winter window.

9. Scott Golbourne - 2016
After beginning his career with his boyhood club, Golbourne re-signed for Bristol City from Wolves in 2016. The full-back made 35 appearances in the Championship before he was released in 2018. He went onto play for Shrewsbury Town before retiring in 2021.

10. Paul Garita - 2016
Garita joined Bristol City from Chateauroux in January 2016, however made only one appearance for the club in the Carabao Cup and spent the following season on loan with Plymouth Argyle. The forward was released in 2018 and has now plays in Romania with Arges Pitesti.

11. Richard O’Donnell - 2016
After joining Bristol City on loan from Wigan Athletic in the summer, O’Donnell made his move permanent in February 2016. After making 31 appearances for the Robins, the goalkeeper left less than a year later and re-signed for Rotherham United. O’Donnell has since played for Northampton Town and Bradford City and is now first choice at Rochdale.

12. Shawn McCoulsky - 2015
After a successful spell with Dulwich Hamlet, McCoulsky was snapped up by Bristol City despite trials with West Ham and Southampton. The forward only made one senior appearance for the club and was sent out on five loan spells before joining Forest Green Rovers on a permanent deal in 2019. The 26-year-old now plays for Maidenhead United.
