The hottest ticket in town right now is at Ashton Gate, as Bristol City prepare to host Premier League champions Manchester City on Tuesday, February 28. The Robins have reached the FA Cup fifth around after beating Swansea City and West Brom, and a reward for their victories is a glamour tie against Pep Guardiola's men.

More than 10,000 tickets have been sold on the first day of sale, with season-ticket and half-season ticket holders eligible to secure one ticket for admission to the cup clash. Those who are able to watch Nigel Pearson’s side regularly at home in the Championship have until Friday, before more supporters who don’t have season tickets can begin to purchase tickets, with the last stage of sale on Thursday, February 16 for general sale, though that seems unlikely given the demand for tickets.

The last time Bristol City welcomed one of the Premier League’s top six was when Man City came to the Gate for their Carabao Cup semi-final in January 2018. Bobby Decordova-Reid opened the scoring for City, but Kevin de Bruyne equalised and then Sergio Aguero scored a stoppage time goal.

Five years have elapsed since Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne graced the BS3 turf, and scored the goals to reach another Wembley Stadium final, despite Marlon Pack and Aden Flint’s best efforts. A crowd of 26,003 packed in the 27,000-seater stadium tonight and a same figure is to be expected.

A lot has changed since the last time Bristol City hosted world-class Premier League opposition at the Gate, and the cost of living has gone up for many, who have to make decisions on whether they can afford football, which is becoming an expensive hobby. Here we take a look at the pricing of tickets the last time City played Man City. Do you think the prices are reasonable five years on? Let us know.
