Nigel Pearson has received a end-of-season boost after Tomas Kalas was made available for Bristol City’s clash with Burnley.

Kalas has been out since the start of March, because of a groin issue that has made him unavailable for a majority of the season. He has made just seven league appearances this season and has suffered a few niggling setbacks in recent weeks.

In an injury update, he said: “We’ve got Tomas who comes back into the squad which is really positive for us but I think for him as well.

“It would be very encourgaing both for us and him to get some pitch time out of him over the last two fixtures. “We’re in a relatively decent position fitness-wise, obviously we can’t get the long-term players back this season but we’ve continued to work hard on and off the pitch to keep the availability high so the competition on matchdays is still there.”

As the end-of-season approaches, there are only two players unavailable for selection this weekend for the Robins. Ayman Benarous and Rob Atkinson are both out with anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

One doubt is Kane Wilson who hasn’t made the last few match day squads. He has only played one since returning from a four-month lay-off after surgery for a knee injury. He’s missed the last four matches and has not featured for the Under-21’s team either.

Burnley, who were crowned champions in midweek after beating Blackburn Rovers have several doubts. Hjalmar Ekdal, Jordan Beyer and Nathan Tella are all doubts for this weekends clash. Ekdal and Tella have been suffering with hip problems whilst Beyer missed out on Tuesday’s title-clinching win over Blackburn. Beyer picked up a knock in the loss to QPR and predicted he wouldn’t play a part.

“We’ll see,” Kompany said in an injury update with the Burnley Express.

“It depends on what they did yesterday. I had all the answers three days ago, I have no answers anymore now. “I’ll find out in about one hour.”

Jay Rodriguez made his long-awaited return last weekend and followed it up with another substitute appearance. He could be pushing for a start against the Robins. Taylor Harwood-Bellis is another player that could feature after a sub appearance against Rovers after a long period out.
