One ex-Bristol City target is poised for a big move whilst an Alex Scott replacement is now on their radar.

Former Bristol City transfer target Jake O’Brien is to sign for Lyon, according to reports.

O’Brien was a target for the Robins back in January and there was an attempt to sign him on loan but they were priced out of a move. He no longer became a target this summer with RWD Molenbeek the most likely move but now he looks set to sign for the French giants.

Sami Mokbel, Chief Football Reporter for the Daily Mail said that O’Brien is set to join Lyon. South London Press journalist Edmund Buck backed this up and said: “Jake O’Brien set to join Lyon on a permanent deal. Long-term contract. Loan to RWD Molenbeek a possibility but not a certainty.”

Nigel Pearson made a public admission earlier this summer that Bristol City wanted to sign him, but claimed that Crystal Palace who own O’Brien, wanted four times what he was on. He won promotion with Molenbeek who are owned by Palace shareholder John Textor.

Meanwhile, the Bristol Post are reporting that George Thomason is being considered as a potential replacement for Alex Scott. The 19-year-old’s move to AFC Bournemouth was finalised on Thursday and there could be some funds available to Pearson to strengthen the squad.

Thomason is 22-years-old and has made 73 appearances to date for the Trotters, scoring two goals and assisting three times. He has mainly played in League One, making 34 appearances in the third tier. Thomason was a substitute for their opening day clash with Lincoln City, before playing the full 90 minutes against his hometown club Barrow in the Carabao Cup.
