Nigel Pearson has named an unchanged team from the Bristol City that beat Rotherham United last week to face Championship winners Burnley.

Max O'Leary takes his place in between the sticks, and there is a defence of George Tanner and Cameron Pring at left-back, with Kal Naismith and Zak Vyner as centre-backs. In midfield, Andy King and Matty James are the holding players, and then Harry Cornick and Sam Bell are on the wings, with Alex Scott playing in the ten role. Tommy Conway got a goal against the Millers last week and gets a start again, with the Scotland Under-21 international level on 11 goals with Nahki Wells, in the race for the Golden Boot at the club.

A surprise exclusion from the match-day squad is deadline day signing Anis Mehmeti. The one-time Albania international is not involved today, but Nigel Pearson believes he is a player for the now and for the future. Kane Wilson, signed on a free transfer from Forest Green Rovers in the summer, is also not in the squad. Wilson has yet to make a league start since joining, and hasn't made the squad in five matches now.

Out-of-contract pair Jay Dasilva and Tomas Kalas are named on the bench. Dasilva had started the last few months but following the return of Naismith, he has had to drop to the bench. Kalas is in the squad for the first time in the last 10 matches, and is playing for his future.

Bristol City: Max O'Leary; George Tanner, Zak Vyner, Kal Naismith, Cameron Pring, Andy King, Matty James, Harry Cornick, Alex Scott, Sam Bell, Tommy Conway.

Substitutes: Harvey Wiles-Richards, Jay Dasilva, Joe Williams, Andi Weimann, Mark Sykes, Nahki Wells and Tomas Kalas.
