Bristol City are now just a matter of days away from the start of pre-season.

The Robins struggled their way to a 17th place finish in the season just gone, and they will be desperate to move on swiftly.

Nigel Pearson will want better in his second full season in charge, and the club are already working on new arrivals, already bringing in three freebies, including Kal Naismith.

The Robins will need more, but the new arrivals are a step in the right direction as City look to improve significantly ahead of their season opener in early August.

While the work continues behind the scenes, we have rounded up all the latest surrounding Ashton Gate.

Pre-season games confirmed

City have now confirmed four pre-season fixtures for next month ahead of their preparations kicking off.

The Robins have announced four games initially, all of which will be played at the Robins High Performance Centre and streamed live and free for season ticket holders.

City will face Cheltenham Town on July 6 (2pm), Portsmouth on July 12 (2pm) and there is a double fixture on July 19, against Forest Green Rovers at 2pm and Exeter City at 4.30pm.

No fans will be allowed to attend the games.

Wells scores

City striker Nahki Wells has found the net during international duty with Bermuda.

Bermuda lost 3-2 to Montserrat on Sunday, but Wells scored with a brilliant individual effort, pulling of stepovers before stiking to find the bottom corner.

That’s encouraging for Pearson as he prepares to welcome back Wells for pre-season.

Scott call-up

Robins starlet Alex Scott has received international recognition.

City’s Young Player of the Season has been called up by Ian Foster for England’s upcoming under-19s European Championship, kicking off against Austria on July 19.

Scott made 37 appearances for the Robins this season, and he will likely see plenty of senior action again this season.
